Came in with a throbbing tooth on Saturday. One hour before they closed. They welcomed me, treated me great, and took X-rays. State of the art equipment and friendly. What more can you ask for!

They are friendly, treat her very well. They have knowledge and experience of dentists.

This review is a bit of an essay. I had always been told by my dentists that my teeth looked good. But I have gotten older (40+) and health evolves. I moved to NOVA 3 years ago and randomly picked a dentist in Chantilly that had office hours that worked for me before work and was near my work. Anyway, I felt horrible after those appointments and felt like that dentist/clinic was trying to swindle me out of expensive and unnecessary treatments that were hardly covered by my insurance and that office didn't educate me on WHY I needed those treatments or how to improve my dental care to avoid treatments in the future. The hygienist and dentist would gang up and try to pressure me to schedule appointments that I wasn't convinced I needed... including to pay $600 for inpatient dental whitening at every appointment--after I made it clear I can't afford $600 a year on something cosmetic and don't care about white teeth for that price. That place made me feel ignorant and like I do a horrible job of taking care of myself. In my most recent appointment (last week), I actually walked out before my appointment began because they had changed my scheduled free (insurance covered) regular cleaning appointment to a deep cleaning appointment that would have cost me $500+ out of pocket and require two visits! They didn't tell me about the change until I was in the dental chair and wearing the bib. I am so happy with myself that I stood up and walked out. I made an appointment at The Dental Office of Herndon after recommendations in the Reston/Herndon Facebook Community. Honestly, I ended up here because a receptionist had responded to a dental question in that community group late in the evening. Anyone who will support their employer after work hours must work in a good place? I went to my Saturday appointment at The Dental Offie of Herndon feeling very skeptical and alert after my previous experience. I did not tell this office about my experience at the other clinic. Everyone here was so nice and friendly, everything was clean. With this being my first appointment, they did the x-rays (the technician took her time and made sure I was as comfortable as possible) and then the dentist saw me before the cleaning. Dr. Zaid told me I had no cavities (the other dentist said I did have a cavity). Dr. Zaid did agree with the other dentist that I have early Stage 1 Periodontist, but Dr. Zaid took the time to explain to me what that even means, showed me my x-rays and explained how he came to his medical diagnosis, he explained this could be genetic (which took away the guilt and shame I was feeling from the other place), and recommended treatment options (like 4 cleanings a year, flossing after every meal). I was able to have my first 'deep cleaning' during this appointment. My insurance only covers (a portion) of having half of my mouth treated at once (so I was going to have to come back to have the other half of my mouth treated), but while I was waiting for the hygienist to start, they actually called my insurance and got permission to do the entire treatment in one visit, instead of two... which saved me a lot of time and was so nice of them!!! The deep cleaning treatment cost me significantly less here than at the other dental clinic where I'd had such a bad experience for THREE years. While the kind hygienist was doing the cleaning, she took the time to explain everything before she started and continued explaining throughout the process. She also noted that she could see I was doing a good job flossing (yay! I bought a Slate flosser and love it), but noted that I could be brushing better, she said she would show me a technique when she was done with the cleaning. And she did. I appreciate this friendly office and thorough, honest medical care. I left feeling like I've got a treatment plan to improve my dental health. I'm grateful and happy to have found a dental clinic that takes the time to provide quality medical care and to educate their patients. I'll be telling my friends.

What is the Mouth-Body Connection® ?

The Mouth-Body Connection® refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role that the harmful bacteria and inflammation in our mouths play in chronic, systemic disease. That’s why it’s time we talked about more than your teeth. Our office prioritizes your overall health as it relates to your oral health. When we care for your smile we’re also looking out for your entire self.
